Ron didn't often say "Hi" as much as broadcast his greetings. So, often when he'd come back to our dorm room the first thing I'd hear was, "JIMMY B!"

John, one of my floormates was editor of the SPC yearbook, and he started calling me Jimmy B. A couple of friends who worked on the school paper picked it up. Soon John started greeting me with, "It's the incomparable Jimmy B!"

A year later SPC became a university. I lost touch with Ron by 1978. The nickname languished during an undistinguished career on small town weekly newspapers.

In 1996 I decided to have resurrect the name. I changed the spelling to "Jimmie Beeee!!!!" to make it distinctive and accurately reflect Ron's boisterous bellow. (Note: it should be written out with four e's. The four exclamation points are preferred, but optional.) I designed a Beeee logo and letterhead. While I haven't taken up beekeeping and haven't eaten many peanut-butter-and-honey sandwiches in a while, I have developed an affinity for bees.
